I just cannot hold back the feeling of absolute disgust on this one and it is because I honestly feel so. I just knew this was coming our way and irrespective of how people might try to justify this, it is just absolute nonsense and there is nothing else to it. There is no greater delight that watching the night sky and that beautiful star studded canvas and now we are doing our best to ruin that too. The space junk that is starting to accumulate around the planet is really growing out of control and ruining the one remaining aspect of our nature that was still largely untouched by human trash.
The first time we landed on the moon, we made an indelible impression on it and now we are doing that all around our planet by leaving trash that is floating about around the planet. We then are faced occasionally with the task of blasting satellites that fall towards us just to make sure we create more menace to the planet. Circulating the globe right now is about 6,000 satellites, only of which 800 are still operational, not to mention tons of other crap left from previous launches.
According to the ESA, all of the space crap floating around is not a good thing as space clutter could put spacecraft at risk, and something should be done. Not good for satellites! It is just not good for the planet in general. Just wish someone had a giant vacuum cleaner that could suck all the trash out. Just do not understand when we will learn to stay at some place for a few minutes and not spoil the goodness there with our trash. This is really pathetic to say the least.
