In what can be only described as the most innovative bit of farming technique employed this decade, farmers on the chilly Isle of Thanet in Kent, England, created a greenhouse spanning over 220 acres so that they can grow vegetables all year round. The project, which is still under works, will be able to hold 1.3 million plants upon completion, increasing UK crop growth of green vegetables by 15%. The series of 7 connected greenhouses has been dubbed Thanet Earth and claims to have a relatively smaller carbon footprint with nothing in the produce ever touching soil. Locals also estimate that doming of the land has created over 500 jobs in the area making farming a more lucrative business in the area.
