PhotoBioReactor Sculpture – Can alternative energy generators look this cool?

For all those who aren’t aware of what a photobioreactor is, lemme enlighten you that it is a closed or semi-closed system in which light and nutrients are supplied to the system in an attempt to maximize algal biomass. Doesn’t sound or at least don’t think that something like that can look attractive right? But Charles Lee intended to add beauty to this green beast that feeds on pollutants like CO2 and generate biodiesel. Here in this project, Lee has succeeded to blend form, function and ecological unit in to an outstanding and eye-catching PhotoBioReactor Sculpture for your park.

It consists of an aluminum carriage which has a continuous spiraling tube that cascades from top to bottom. The work could be lighted at night to create a beautiful evening experience powered by a solar array and batteries. The bioreactor towers are attached to a harvesting machine which would extract the algae biomass. In this proposal the biodiesel could be used to run the machinery and vehicles that maintain the park.
