Unlike many other sustainable concepts, the idea of a Transportable Emergency Dwelling (TED) is unique and unheard of. The brain behind this project is Craig Mackiewicz, a student who wanted to render a unit built within a shipping container that provides quick response and low-cost housing. Each container can put up two families, with a living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, storage space etc.
All this along with optimum utilization of renewable energy like solar to provide electricity, and the roofs are built in a tilted manner so that rainwater can be used, helping the whole system save around 350 gallons of water. Not only is this sort of an idea a brilliant way to save space and infrastructure, but it also needs to be encouraged to curb our environmental problems!
