You know one thing I’ve noticed about streetlights is that they gravely lack in creativity, style and competence. Usually the designers do not have a sense of imagination coupled with practicality, but designer Agustin Otegui is all set to change that perception with the Prisma streetlight. These cleverly crafted lights project three light beams in different directions, and 360 degrees of colored light with varying intensities can be radiated from a LED sphere.
Solar panels on the sides charge the lights during the day and provide light at night, the electromagnetic glass shifts from transparent to reflective and the light can be redirected when one of the sides is not needed, resulting in adequate use of power supply. The lights can be connected to a main server and be accessed via web-based software with the additional benefit of being able to lease these lights for special occasions, saving a tremendous amount of power, which is utilized during these events. This will result in a merger of style and efficiency with the dexterity to be fit on streets.
