The best way to encourage homeowners to save electricity and water is to give them incentives for their savings. Not only in terms of reductions in power and water bills, but to help them use their savings as cash for shopping. “Amend” is one product that allows people do the aforementioned with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
Amend is an electricity and water meter that is to be distributed by government agencies to all users. In the same package, a Green Card is also distributed, which saves the energy savings or losses in the form of points. If a family uses less water and electricity than the recommendations, these savings gets credited in the form of savings and vice versa. At the end of the month the user can use the Green Card points as cash in various government aided services. If on the other hand a family wastes water and electricity, they have to pay extra for their excessive usage.
The Dark Side:
The plan will definitely help and encourage people to save energy, but the plan on the whole seems a distant dream, which will take decades to meet reality.
