Eco Factor: Bus stops generate solar electricity and offer Wi-Fi connectivity to San Francisco.
Soon to realize the importance of solar energy, San Francisco has rested its green dreams on hi-tech bus stops, which will generate solar energy for the stops’ LED lighting, power the grid with clean energy and also keep residents of the state online by providing Wi-Fi facilities to the entire state.
The plan is to install 1100 solar-powered bus stops throughout the city, which should serve as an inspiration for the world. The bus shelters will be equipped with a roof lined with solar panels, the unused energy of which will be sent back to the grid. Though the system won’t ever be able to power a home with clean energy, it should do wonderfully well in keeping the residents connected to the world with clean energy.
