Eco Factor: Old shipping container transformed into mobile restaurant.
For all of you who loved Adam Kalkin’s Push Button House but couldn’t afford the luxuries it was bestowed with, here is your chance to take a glimpse of a similar architectural design, provided you live in Montreal. The Müvbox, which seems inspired by the Push Button House, is serving mouthwatering delicacies in a pimped-up 20-foot shipping container.
The Müvbox is being used by Daniel Noiseux, the owner of Pizzaiolle restaurants, in Montreal, where the shipping container serves local delicacies to the passersby. Being built in a shipping container, the restaurant can be moved to any location, where a button push opens the restaurant’s drums in just 1.5 minutes, and with only 3-4 employees the restaurant can be fully open and running in just 15 minutes.
The 20-foot shipping container is powered by rooftop solar panels on the roof, which generate 40% of the restaurant;s energy needs, and the rest comes from propane, which is used to cook. The floor of the restaurant is made from recycled tires. Noiseux plans to expand the concept to other cities and also wants his restaurants to serve as an inspiration for others in the same business.
