Eco Factor: Light dimmers reduce energy consumption when you don’t need much illumination.
Light dimmers are often used to lighten the mood of your living room to suit your requirements. Lutron Electronics is taking this technique a bit too far to actually reduce the energy being consumed by all the lighting equipment that is used in your house. The company has launched a new range of eco-minders, dubbed Maestro and Meadowlark, which not just dim light but also reduce energy consumption.
The company claims that using these dimmers, homeowners can reduce their electricity consumption by 15%. The Maestro eco-minder is customizable with delayed, fade-to-off function, which helps you leave the room without actually turning off the bulb.
The Meadowlark offers a slide dimmer, which eases the dimming process even further. In addition, a rocker switch is also available to turn lights to a set level. The Maestro is available for a price of $45.50 and the Meadowlark retails for $24.80.
