Eco Factor: Sustainable architecture for Liverpool harnesses natural elements for energy and water.
Jefferson Sheard Architects collaborated with Halcrow Yolles to provide a new transport hub for Liverpool, which apart from being aesthetically beautiful is great for the environment as well. The Liverpool South Parkway, as the project has been christened, is providing Merseytravel with a link to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The interchange is a high quality and a fully accessible facility with bus services, parks and walking areas. The sustainable development also incorporates the use of solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, aluminum roofing and a ground source heat pump.
The facility is designed to transform public transport in Liverpool and encourage more people to make use of it. The project also integrates safety measures which include CCTV, high visibility and lighting levels.
