Eco Factor: Zero-emission car powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
Even after being the most abundant element in the universe, auto engineers have had a hard time figuring out the best way to use hydrogen to power cars. We all know that cars powered by hydrogen are clean as the only thing that comes out of their exhaust is water, but the system used to store hydrogen in a feasible form is too expensive for use in affordable vehicles.
Without actually worrying about the cost of the system, Toyota has been working on its FCHV hydrogen Highlander for a while and recently took the latest version for a field test in California to check the range the vehicle will get in real-world driving conditions.
The company claims that the vehicle is able to run 68.3 miles per kilogram of hydrogen. The results are averaged for an estimated range of 431 miles.
