Eco Factor: One-make car racing series to feature vehicles fueled by Bio-CNG made from renewable sources.
Lately a lot of buzz has been created by racing challenges where only green machines are allowed. Be it the Green X Challenge or the Global Green Challenge, these racing events do prove that being green doesn’t always mean having to go slow.
Volkswagen has been organizing its own version of green racing in Europe with the Polo Cup, and now the company has announced another new series for 2010 that will be based on the natural gas-powered Scirocco.
The one-make series will feature vehicles powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine fueled by Bio-CNG, which is produced using renewable sources such as grass and corn and promises to lower emissions and steer the world away from fossil fuels.
