Eco Factor: Pavilion designed to make the best of natural resources.
Shanghai Expo 2010 will see the largest ever Japanese Pavilion covering an area of about 6000-square-meters. The 24m high pavilion will also be among the largest pavilions at the Expo. Dubbed the “Zi Can Dao”, the sustainable pavilion is designed as a breathing organism.
The pavilion will be divided into three zones for past, present and future exhibitions. These three zones – wonders of connections, from ‘connections of knowledge’ to ‘connections between people’ and balancing ‘connections between people’ and the future will make good use of natural resources.
The pavilion incorporates solar energy collection system and a double-layer membrane that filters sunshine. Moreover, energy-saving technologies will also be on display and several performances will be staged to highlight the importance of going green.
