Eco Factor: Machine to turn wastepaper into toilet paper.
We’ve always encouraged our readers to save paper and recycle it to prevent more trees from being chopped dwon. If you’re not one of those DIYers who can convert paper into stunning pieces of art, a Japanese company called Oriental has come up with a machine dubbed the White Goat, which converts normal wastepaper into rolls of toilet paper.
Processing 40 sheets of paper for half an hour, the machine gives a nice toilet roll, which the company claims costs about a dime. The processing includes shredding the paper, dissolving it in water, thinning it out, and drying and winding it into toilet rolls. Normal use of this machine will help save up to 60 cedar trees annually. However, the catch here is that the machine itself costs a whopping $100,000.
