Eco Factor: National Convention Center achieves LEED Gold Certification.
While Dubai and Abu Dhabi are leading the world in eco-responsible projects, designers in Qatar don’t want to be left too far behind. Qatar is building a unique convention center, which has already achieved the LEED Gold Certification by promising better use of resources.
The Qatar National Convention Center is slated to be completed by 2011 and offers an area of 177,000 square meters, which will include 3600 square meters of solar panels on the roof to provide up to 12.5 percent of the center’s energy demands.
Moreover, the center will feature energy-saving systems that include LED lighting in the exhibition halls and a special wireless convention management system that will provide free internet access to the delegates to reduce paper use.
