Eco Factor: Lightweight crystalline solar panels for military solar applications.
SBM Solar has announced the development of the world’s first UL Certified non-glass, rigid, C-Si solar panels that are designed to expand the opportunities for solar installations, especially in marine and military solar applications. The lightweight solar panels can save energy in production and transportation as compared to conventional panels.
The non-reflective solar panels are encapsulated in a shatterproof plastic material developed by The Dow Chemical Company. According to the company, the panels are 40 percent lighter than glass, allowing for easier and lower-cost shipping and handling.
