Eco Factor: Concept low-emission car designed to be powered by a hybrid engine.
Electric cars still don’t pack enough charge for a long distance drive, but the need to curb emissions has forced designers and auto makers to think of vehicles that couple electric drives with conventional engines to achieve the needful. American designer James Piatt is working on a similar concept that he calls the MOFO.
The vehicle is a classical roadster and is intended to convey simplicity and purity via well-defined curves and sculptural forms. Since the car is powered by a hybrid engine, it still roars on the streets. However, for people who are more concerned about emissions, the vehicle can also run solely on the silent electric engine. The designer is planning to produce 300 MOFO hybrids in 2012.
