Honda has announced that its new hybrid car, which will be based on the Honda Fit and share core components with the Insight, will cost around 1.5 million yen ($16,570), making it the cheapest hybrid in Japan when it goes on sale this autumn.

The company states that the Fit hybrid will cost about 400,000 yen less than the Insight and about 200,000 yen more than the gas-powered Fit compact car. The gas saving car will be able to travel 30km on a liter of gasoline, compared with the Fit’s 24km per liter mileage.
