Eco Factor: Foldable bike wraps around a pole to be locked-up safely.
For those of you who live in the fear of losing on your precious bikes, a De Montfort University graduate has something great to offer. Industrial designer Kevin Scott has invented a revolutionary folding bicycle that will stop thieves from laying their hands on it. The bike has been designed to allow user to wrap it around a lamppost so it can be locked-up safely without having to tie it using a lock or chain.
This new bike uses a ratcheting mechanism to convert the bike’s frame from stiff to bendable, allowing the user to wrap it around a pole and fasten both tires and the frame using a single lock. Scott’s innovative creation won him runner-up prize at the New Designers show at the Business Design Centre in Islington, north London, where it is still on display.
