Eco Factor: Batteries powered by electromagnetic induction.
Portable batteries that are usually used in remote controls among other devices that haven’t adopted rechargeable Li-ion cells yet, contain toxic materials that pollute the ecosystem when discarded. Brother Industries Ltd. is about to change it all with new batteries that are recharged with vibrations.
Dubbed the “Vibration-powered Generating Battery”, the device is set inside a remote control and generates power whenever the user shakes the remote control. The company hopes that the new generator will semi-permanently eliminate the need to replace batteries and contribute to reducing the amount of waste.
Unveiled in AA and AAA sizes, the battery includes an electromagnetic induction generator and an electric double layer capacitor with a capacitance of about 500mF. The output of this eco-friendly battery is about 10 to 180mW, which is perfectly suited for use in low-powered portable devices.
