Eco Factor: Sustainable mixed-use development powered by solar energy.
Knafo Klimor Architects have proposed a sustainable mixed-use development for the city of Petach-Tikva in Israel, which will redefine the entrance of the city with sustainability. Offering space for office buildings and shopping arcades, the 100,000sqm towers are planned on the former plot of the Yakhin factory complex.
Christened the Go Green Towers, the development adopts a sustainable urban vision and elements of green architecture. The towers present some innovative energy-saving technologies that include a solar station, photovoltaic panels on the roofs, water treatment system and use of gray water for garden irrigation.
Moreover, the north-south orientation of the building maximizes solar exposure and a variety of shading panels reduce heat gain. The building’s envelope will feature double-thickness walls that add to insulation and create a comfortable micro-climate of working spaces.
