Eco Factor: Sustainable architecture designed to minimize energy consumption.
Your Building Here has unveiled the designs of the new embassy of the Czech Republic in the USA. The structure fulfills the functions of the embassy and will have a low environmental impact. The development will feature several low-story buildings that are arranged in terraces and laced with garden plots.
Due to the strict security requirements, about a third of the structure has been put underground. Despite this, the architects managed to connect the green roofs and gardens to the park and forests that surround the site. The unique design provides a sense of refuge and familiarity inside the walls while blending the structure with nature.
With a north-south orientation the embassy is divided into four core buildings that include the consulate, office, representation and residence. All four buildings are in the back part of the site and are connected for easy access. Seeking LEED certification, the architects have designed several energy saving systems and will make use of materials that conform to the strictest environmental standards.
