Eco Factor: Windmill with wings made from bamboo.
The existence of the windmill dates back in the 9th century and has come a long way since then. We’ve seen everyone from big companies to DIYers experiment with them to produce green energy. But, this time around a Dutch designer adds a little more green to this age-old green technology. Gijsbert Koren has developed a windmill by ditching the steel wings and using bamboo ones instead.
Koren has used the low weight bamboo woven in India to take his green initiative a step further. Not only is the windmill expected to be more efficient, but will also be aesthetically appealing. The bamboo wings will help in converting wind energy into mechanical power, which can be easily converted to electricity. Thought still in the testing stage, Koren hope to heat up the market soon.
