Eco Factor: New sports pavilion with grass-covered slopes and LED lighting.
Designed by MoederscheimMoonen Architects, the “Sports Pavilion” will see sensational, sweaty men from two soccer clubs in Rotterdam, The Netherlands give plenty of joy and excitement to the soccer enthusiasts. As part of the development of Park 16Hoven, a large new suburban neighborhood adjacent to the city center and the airport, the new pavilion has been designed with an aim to create a transparent and ‘lightweight’ space.
Located within the open space between the airport and newly developed houses in the park, the Sports Pavilion comprises of two levels. The translucent cantilevered roof studded with LED powered lighting not only filters direct sunlight, but also illuminates like a lampoon in the evening. The top floor of the building that is directly connected to the pitches by grass-covered slopes houses the clubhouses and the boardrooms, while the grass covered ground floor includes dressing rooms and storage areas.
