Eco Factor: 2014 Lotus Elite to include a full-hybrid gearbox for fuel efficiency.
Lotus Cars has announced that its new Elite will be unveiled at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The company claims that this new vehicle will mark the dawn of the company’s new era when it will go in sale in early 2014. The vehicle unveiled at the auto show will be a production intent prototype.
The Elite will include a 5.0-liter V8 engine that will be able to generate a whopping 611 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. This massive engine will be able to propel the car to 50mph in just 3.5 seconds. With a top speed of 195mph, the car’s engine will be mated to a full-hybrid gearbox with integrated electric motors and KERS. The company is also planning an optional hybrid engine for the car.
