Eco Factor: Portable turbine generates electricity from river water.
With billions of people around the world still having no access to the electric grid, industrial designers are coming up with solutions that can help brighten their lives. Designer Francisco Lupin has conceptualized a micro turbine that can generate enough power to supply the energy needs of a small house.
With an aim to bring electrical power to small villages over the world, the concept turbine, christened Hydro, can be connected in series with other Hydros to generate more power. The turbines can be mounted on a steel bridge, with two side guides, and can be placed in lakes or rivers to generate renewable electricity. The design of the system has been optimized to achieve the best flow and generate the maximum amount of energy.
