Thank goodness, it’s bombing for a different reason altogether in fact for the best should we say. Military planes designed to drop landmines are now being retrofitted by US manufacturer Lockheed Martin Aerospace to aerial bomb forests with new trees. The tree bomber technology devised with an aim to offset vast carbon footprints enlists outmoded military machines for the green dropping job. For e.g. using a C-130 carpet bomber to drop pointed tree cones in remote areas that bury themselves in the ground at the same depth and contain fertilizer and a material that soaks up surrounding moisture, watering the roots of the tree.
The company hopes that the amazing method tree planting method could drop 125,000 trees for each sortie which means 900,000 trees in a day.
