Architecture has always been inspiring students to go innovative with booming technology, but how many of them have even been environmentally-conscious while planning their projects? It’s not a many lot true, but, a handful of them surely do, like the students of architecture, engineering and even some communication students at the University of Maryland, who have taken up the project of building a house of the future – named Leading Everyone to an Abundant Future House or LEAF House.

Interestingly, the walls of the house are made of plants and it too has an indoor waterfall, which will act as a dehumidifier relieving energy pressure on the cooling system. The house also possesses solar panels that can power 52 batteries. It’s not just this, which has put it in the headlines!

Amazingly, the floors of the house are heated by rain water. Located on the south side of the house, there is a ‘green wall’ made up of potted plants to filter water that will be used inside the house.

The students and the professors building the house hope to incorporate all the components representing the essence of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay through water usage in it.

If you are interested in buying this small apartment-sized environment-friendly house, better drop the plan, unless you are affordably crazy after it! – as the 800 square feet-house costs as much as a large home i.e. around $700,000!
