10MW skyscraper in Dubai will feed the electric grid with renewable energy

10mw tower 1 Eco Factor: Sustainable tower designed to generate more renewable energy that it consumes. The 10MW Tower is the brainchild of designers at Studied Impact, which has been designed to generate 10X more energy than it needs. The tower is equipped with a 5MW wind turbine that sits on top of the building harnessing the wind, a 3MW concentrating solar system and an additional 2MW is to be generated with a solar updraft system. 10mw tower 2 The 50-story skyscraper will pump renewable energy back into Dubai’s electric grid. Planned for the Al Quoz neighborhood in Dubai, the skyscraper will be having clear access to sunlight from all sides. The bottom three floors of the tower will include shopping, commercial areas and restaurants. The top of the retail podium will have a living roof garden that will be watered using condensate from the building’s air handling units. 10mw tower 3 Generating 10MW of renewable energy, the design will be able to neutralize its embodied energy of 360,000MWh in less than 20 years, which no other skyscraper has ever done. The solar concentrating system will be building into the south facing façade and features the use of 1600 heliostatic mirrors that direct sunlight to a receiver mounted above the mirrors on a cantilevered arm. 10mw tower 4 10mw tower 5 10mw tower 6 Via: Inhabitat
