ScrapSculptures build stunning Bumblebee replica from junk

Among all the androids (no, we’re not talking about Google’s OS) out there, none have impacted or fascinated us as much as those from the Transformers franchise. These huge machines have inspired merchandise like toys, video games and clothes, much to the delight of fans around the world. But, there’s another aspect to their appeal that’s far more interesting; their ability to inspire artists to create figurines and sculptures in their likeness. Designers from across the globe have for long built realistic depictions of the Transformers’ characters, so much so that it’s easy to mistake them for the real thing. Now, another one of these amazing creations has caught our fancy. Built by Scrap Sculptures, it’s a 7.5 foot sculpture of our favorite yellow bot, Bumblebee. What’s even better? It’s made entirely of scrap metal.

BUMBLEBEE TRANSFORMERS

Like all recycled art forms, scrap metal has the potential to be converted into fantastic forms. So why destine scrap for the junk yard when you can create such treasures? Scrap Sculptures took over four months to build this beauty, complete with Bumblebee’s iconic horns on the head. The 2.2 meter tall sculpture makes use of an array of spark plugs, nuts, bolts, nails and other metal parts from cars and motorcycles. We can’t really tell what generation this version of Bumblebee is, all we know is that it bears an incredible likeness. It’s also up for sale and art collectors can purchase it for about $500. Not bad for the amount of work that seems to have gone into it.

Scrap Sculptures has also created other pieces like those from the Aliens film franchise, Wall-E, Star Wars, Gremlins and, of course, Transformers leader, Optimus Prime. All sculptures are made exclusively out of scrap metal and have seen many clients lining up to get their hands on a piece.
