The Mordernist Cabin: A retreat smoothly integrated with the natural landscape

If not for real, through other sources, we have all seen the aerial view of the earth. You’ll agree that looking at the green patches that mark forests, a question circles the head; what are these greens destined for? Well, as individuals we cannot decide the fate of forests, but as far as retreating in the forests is concerned, we can follow certain construction principles that will help us merge human activity with the natural surroundings without impacting the ecology. In one such effort, ‘The Modernist Cabin’ was designed by HGB Architects. It is a small vacation house that can easily serve a family of four adults.

The Modernist Cabin

The house has been specially designed for a lake front and it is supposed to be a reinterpretation of traditional wood cabins. It will have all amenities of a modern house, but will be based on passive processes in line with the ecology. The main premise that defines the house is how it incorporates an interconnection between nature and its inhabitants. A good outdoor and indoor relation intends to be established and for this the architects have carefully planned the correlation between the way the light would affect the inside materials and coating over a long span of time.

The windows and the exterior shutters retract fully into the walls and make way for the extensions from the insides that lead to the lake directly. Internal partition is given by sliding panels and this increases the fluidity of the space. For making it even friendlier for the ecology, it has been elevated. This will reduce its impact over the soil and prevent it from flood damage. So next time when you think of enjoying a quiet retreat out in the wild , do consider such houses that are sustainable and merge well with the ecology.
